Hormones & Longevity: Navigating Perimenopause, Menopause, and Andropause for Lifelong Vitality

Hormone levels decline as we age. While menopause is a well-defined cessation of menstruation, andropause is a gradual decline in testosterone levels in men. Research suggests that menopause, particularly when it occurs earlier, may be associated with a shorter lifespan and increased risk of certain health conditions. Andropause, while not as clearly linked to lifespan as menopause, can contribute to health issues which in turn impact longevity. Understanding the long-term effects of the decline in hormones associated with menopause and andropause will enable clinicians to identify risk factors and intervene with modifications to support healthy aging.
